Raci Pişmişoğlu, a prominent figure in the music education and performance scene, has played a significant role in the development of jazz and ensemble music in Turkey. He was involved in the establishment of the İzmir Yamaha Music Schools and has made a name for himself both nationally and internationally as an educator and performer.

 

As a faculty member at İstanbul Bilgi University's Jazz Department, Raci Pişmişoğlu has taught bass, ensemble, and listening analysis courses alongside other educators, contributing to the training of many talented musicians who have made a mark in the music world.

 

Pişmişoğlu has been actively involved in various musical projects, notably with Ali Perret's Acid Trippin group, which has performed at numerous jazz festivals and recorded the "Midnight Rebels" album. He has also toured extensively with the well-known band Yeni Türkü, performing concerts worldwide and participating in world music festivals.

Throughout his career, Raci Pişmişoğlu has collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Erkan Oğur, Ercan Irmak, Mustafa Suder, İlyas Mirzaev, and has been part of concerts featuring symphony orchestras under the direction of Fahir Atakoğlu. In a special performance commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, he led a group of 100 musicians, accompanied by 25 suspended drummers, at venues like Dolmabahçe Palace and the historic Aspendos Theater.

 

Raci Pişmişoğlu has also showcased his talents internationally, performing at universities and concert halls in Canada and the United States, including renowned institutions like Harvard University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and George Washington University. He has been involved in various music projects and collaborations, including Free Key Trio, Mingus Trippin, Ricky Ford Trio, Donovan Mixon Duo and Trio, İstanbul Jazz Collective Big Band, Selim Selçuk, and Elvan Aracı. Additionally, he paid tribute to the late great artist Hüseyin Alptekin by performing a project dedicated to his memory alongside famous trumpeter Graham Haynes at the Bodrum Jazz Festival.

 

Furthermore, Raci Pişmişoğlu has taken his passion for music and education to stages such as Nardis Jazz Club and the Bodrum Jazz Festival, where he showcased his project with students from İstanbul Bilgi University's ensemble course, coded MUS 461, featuring Bora Çelikler and Can Çankaya. His contributions to the world of jazz and ensemble music have left an indelible mark on both aspiring musicians and the Turkish music scene as a whole.
